As part of this Call, Komunalac wants to upgrade, improve and equip a plant for recycling separately collected biowaste in which the technological process of composting is carried out in the suburban settlement of Herešin.
The aim of the project is to increase the capacities of the Republic of Croatia for biological treatment of separately collected biowaste and thus contribute to the improvement of municipal waste management system, especially separate collection of produced biowaste and reducing the amount of waste disposed of in landfills.
The project includes the implementation of educational and promotional activities in order to contribute to increasing the rate of separately collected biowaste and informing the public about the new plant.
The project contributes to meeting the objectives of the Waste Management Plan of the Republic of Croatia 2017 – 2022.
The project area includes: Service area of the Utility Company (GKP) Komunalac d.o.o. which consist of the city of Koprivnica and 8 suburban settlements (Bakovčica, Draganovec, Herešin, Jagnjedovec, Kunovec Breg, Reka, Starigrad and Štaglinec) and the municipalities of Drnje, Đelekovec, Koprivnički Bregi, Koprivnički Ivanec, Legrad, Molve, Novigrad Podravski and Sokolovac

The application was submitted in May 2020 through the “efondovi” system.
The Decision on financing was made on July 31, 2020.
The Project Financing Agreement was signed on 14 September 2020, granting Komunalac a non-refundable grant in the amount of HRK 4,464,235.80.
